THE PROBLEM
You’re running your simulations or models with different atomic configurations and parameters. Each simulation takes atleast 8 hours to complete, and you require >100 iterations.
You’re about to submit the last simulation you need to finalize your article. To your suprise, qstat shows 800 tasks got submitted in the last hour and you on the queue. You thought your code/job would run for 3-6 hours. You declared it might go as long as 4, just to be safe. But it never made it. After 4 hours, your task died at 98% completion, and you are now without results and penalised for abusing the cluster. How could you know? It’s Friday, 6 PM, you have some weekend calculations you want to run. After some failed qsub commands you realize it’s down for maintenance. We'd love to hear from you, if you have other difficulties, please write to [email protected] |

FAQs
1.What is high performance computing? High Performance Computing most generally refers to the practice of aggregating computing power in a way that delivers much higher performance than one could get out of a typical desktop computer or workstation in order to solve large problems in science, engineering, or business. 2.What is parallel computing? Parallel computing is a type of computing architecture in which several processors execute or process an application or computation simultaneously. Parallel computing helps in performing large computations by dividing the workload between more than one processor, all of which work through the computation at the same time. 3. Peer Cloud is free or paid? By joining the Peer Cloud, you get 50 simultaneous tasks, Rs. 1000/- of Peer Cloud credit, bigger machines (up to 48 cores), and your own tailor made environment: we will contact you to ask what software you want, and set it up. |
